I'm not sure if this is the best category to put this in, but I've been wondering about the unfortunate passage of the Isaiah 3 women. I don't know if this is real significant for us or not, but have wondered if this has had anything to do with the godless women's empowerment movement.
To clarify my stance, I do not believe women should be treated as slaves or with any kind of disrespect, nor harmed in any way. Contrary-- God has established very special roles for women, and they are commendable of great praise and rejoicing. The Proverbs 31 chapter shows us what God considers an ideal woman to act like, and there is a great deal of independence shown in the Proverbs 31 woman-- she considers a field an buys it, for instance. But to reject and neglect that Proverbs 31 role is very problematic. God made Adam to be the primary leader, and Eve to be the primary helper.
For all human beings-- male and female-- God desires and insists that we love Him with all our heart and our neighbor as ourselves. When we do this, we prioritize for Him a life of obedience, humility, and submission to His ways. When we do not do this, we are self-serving rebels.
Isaiah 3 shows us women at the pinnacle of hedonism. It seems the passage is multi-applicational-- an application for the women of Isaiah's day, and quite possibly, for the women of today.
Please notice in your Strong's Concordance that many of the words used to depict these women's accoutrements and accessories are found only here, or else this place and maybe one or two other times in the whole scripture-- a lot of unique words in this passage.
Isa 3:12 As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.
Isa 3:13 The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.
Isa 3:14 The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.
Isa 3:15 What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord GOD of hosts.
Isa 3:16 Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:
Isa 3:17 Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts.
Isa 3:18 In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,
Isa 3:19 The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,
Isa 3:20 The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,
Isa 3:21 The rings, and nose jewels,
Isa 3:22 The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,
Isa 3:23 The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.
Isa 3:24 And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.
Isa 3:25 Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.
Isa 3:26 And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground.
