OK let's get this new category rolling with something that has been unresolved in my mind for a while now. Over the summer I had thought to refresh my reading with the major prophets and "coincidentally" I am reading Ezekiel now, in fact just read and re-read 38 & 39 Sunday & Monday this week.
There is a lot in this category that can be explored and I simply want to "kick it off" with some opening dialogue and hopefully it will move to something productive.
I will also note that I have been watching some videos from Answers in Genesis trying to learn a bit more about heritage and how things trace back to our ancestors. Fascinating! How does genealogy tie into the whole thing? One simple word, LAND! Of the reasons God had instructed the Jews to not inter-mingle with those around them (all of the ITES) was absolutely their pagan practices, but also due to inheritance of land. Inter-marrying gave the right to the land to the families.
How does this tie to the war of Gog/Magog?
I have heard many times that Gog is a leader from the land/country of Magog and that Meshech & Tubal were other lands/countries in the middle east region and north of there. In review of some genealogies as well as how
Eze 38:2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, 3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I [am] against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal…5 Persia, Cush, and Put will accompany them, all with shields and helmets; 6 Gomer with all its troops; and Beth-togarmah from the far north with all its troops— many nations with you.
Gen 10:2 The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
1Chr 1:5 The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. 6 The sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah
So who is Gog and why is Gog the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal? Who is Meshech? Who is Tubal?
GO!
