I will try to keep this from turning into a rant, but from my perspective things are getting out of hand.....
I will start saying I grew up surrounded by guns. My family going back generations were hunters. Now, not saying my family had an arsenal, but we did have around two rifles per person. In my pre-teen years I had BB Guns and Pellet Guns, around 12 Iwas given a 22. My target practice consisted of soda cans, bottles, and occasional bullseye targets. I grew to be a decent shot. I did go on several hunts and discovered I did not enjoy killing animals ... So later stopped going all together - but never raised one issue of others going hunting.
one of the golden rules I learned was NEVER point a gun at a person ... Even as a joke!
Growing up on TV and Movies (assume same as everyone else) I could watch all the shootouts and bombs .... Because I knew in the back of my mind these were "make-believe" and the shot people did not remain dead.
Here lately, possibly because of all the mass shootings .... I have become sensitive to all gun violence. Not so much so, I am ready to ban guns from everyone .... But at least open minded enough that some people should not have them.
So here is the deal, I like my video games - usually in the line of slots, poker, puzzles, races ....
To keep the games free, (the only games I do) one must put up with advertisements ..... Usually of new games coming to market.....
Here lately, the new games being promoted ( the way I can describe as shootout type games)...
However, rather than placing a red X over someone that was killed, Now they are showing Blood and Guts being spewed all over the place. In fact the gorier the better in these Game makers minds. Titles like deadly sniper, kill shot, top assassin .... All aim at and graphically display killing people as realistically as possible.
Has these Game makers crossed a line? Hey, I cheer with everyone else when I see a super hero take down the monster or bad villain.
But to see humans shot in everyday dress (like not in military outfits) .... Simply a Joe blow walking down the street being blown away.
Just seems to me - things are going to far.....
Am I nuts? Making too much out of it?
