Quick back story about ol Soup....
I grew up in the city. I am as "city" as they come. Born and raised in texas but i am certainly not the prototypical cowboy you see on westerns or anything like that. Much more pretty boy than a rough and tough outdoorsman.
10 years ago I bought 2 acres of land outside of the city 2 where i grew up and its a semi remote compared to the city I grew up in. Actual woods, wildlife all around, no neighbors for 100s of yards in either direction. It's pretty quiet and nice change of pace from city life.
Within the last several years my family and I have been tossing around the idea of moving from our city house and live out on our land in the country. We finally made that happen during last year. It's been really great overall. It's awesome getting to see my kids doing things outdoors and not tethered to a screen.
Fast forward to today....i am still a city boy at heart but trying to learn about the basics of growing and supplying our own food. Started a large vegetable garden, bought two goats, and best of all...we have chickens. 8 of them. Never realized how fun and rewarding raising and caring for chickens could be.
The only drawback to chickens though is trying to keep vermin and pests out and keep them from harming your chickens. (I have already had to shoot 2 possums this week).
This is the part of the story where my "pretty boy " ways really don't mix well with country life...
I am pretty jumpy when it comes to rats and mice. I HATE em. They are gross and nasty. And They give me the willies just thinking about them. I HATE dealing with them And setting traps or even touching the traps after you catch them. And even worse than rats are the snakes they attract. I am deathly afraid of snakes. Like irrational fear of snakes level. It's bad.
So you can start to see my dilemma here...i have to protect my 8 ladies (talking about hens...i am not a polygamist 😀) so I have got to keep any and all rats away which will hopefully cut down on the potential snakes too.
And here is why I have you all that backstory....i have found the most amazing rat/mousetrap ever invented.
www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B076X18ZS3/ref=psdcmw_3737901_t1_B073W4PSRQYou can catch multiple mice or rats per night and never have to reset the trap. It's truly a life changer for a sissy like me. The rats just run up on the plank and then fall into the water. (Sorry but I allow them to drown. I am not relocating rats somewhere else. )
I am going to setup a game cam this weekend to show it in action. Whoever made this trap is a genius. Give it a look if you are needing to deal with those pesky mice or rats.
Check that video out on YouTube of the trap in action.
Sorry for the long post about a mousetrap but it's the Whatever Section. 😀
