I don't know why, but I was think about our future economic systems in Heaven/New Earth today. Do y'all think it be a barter system or will God just provide everything we need for our future endeavors that will glorify Him? I was thinking we would just trade what we grow or create ourselves. I also would think there would be no set prices just us giving whatever we felt was fair. Any thoughts?

Interesting question! For the record I have NO Clue; however, I do have some speculation ..... We will be in our "new bodies" -- resurrected bodies may look similar but has many differences that are hinted about. For example, while we can eat and drink -- the question becomes will we have to? If people do not have to eat or drink to survive -- will they even do so? Can these bodies be hurt? Will there be colds or ailments? We are in a four dimension universe right now (that we can perceive) -- but scholars say we are really in at least a 10 dimension universe; but we are unable to perceive the other ones in out present state.... ======= Next potential issue -- is will these new bodies --- want or need anything? Any type of economy (as we know it today) -- requires at least two parties -- "A Supplier" -- or an entity that has a product or service that is not easily available to everyone else.... and "A Consumer" -- or an entity that wants or needs the product or service. So will the new bodies need food / water / clothes / jewelry? Interesting question to be sure............

Hi guys, thanks for starting an interesting thread. It is a place where speculations have a honored place, since we are considering things Jesus is preparing for us, and will surprise us with. Kinda like kids speculating about what is in those wrapped presents under the tree.
Here are a few thoughts for you to play with:
First of all we live in an age of scarcity. Seems like everything takes time, money, or lots of labor. And they rarely seem to come together at the same time.Sometimes hard work yields lots of money but then there is no time left to savor the benefit. The rich man and his big barn ploy comes to mind from Scripture. To make this even more complex is that sometimes bad people seem to have more money and toys than the good people. And then there is the reality that often God withholds or removes some of our resources in order to build our character and teach us things. The bottom line for most of the people alive is that life on earth is a survival thing. Do what you can to stay alive, stay out of trouble, and have a little fun along the way. For those who come to know Jesus, the dynamic changes and it is not about survival. Though we can be hit with adversaries, we know that we have a God Who watches our every step and is our Great Shepherd.
The transfer to heaven requires a huge shift in our lifestyle. From an age characterized by scarcity, we move into an age characterized by abundance. But because we are created in God's image we share in His joy of making things and doing things. But what is the motivation or reason for doing anything if survival is not an issue? Personal side note- for many years now I have made a living from painting pictures and making custom spinning wheels. The best part of my job is making people happy. The worst part is having to charge money for it. How often I have wished that I could simply give everything away! The pleasure of seeing someone's face light up with joy is better than any amount of money. I think God created each of us with latent gifts that often times are neglected for one reason or another. Or He has put a desire in our hearts for something we can't seem to ever do right. I believe heaven will be a place where art will flourish in unimaginable ways. If your main purpose each day was simply to celebrate the gifts God gave you and use your energy in pursuits to uplift and edify others, I think every day would be a perfect day. Especially since everyone else would wake up with the same purpose. I can just imagine myself spend time creating a nice painting for someone and having someone drop by with a plate of fresh from the oven cookies (their passion is baking!) And then someone else who loves yard work is out mowing my lawn and tending the garden just for the shear pleasure of it and the joy of helping a brother. I would be able to set aside the painting (no deadline!) and just enjoy relating to each person who comes my way.
I know that the reality will vastly exceed my wildest dreams. Time will be different for sure but I know it will not be a fleeting thing and the tyrant it is in our lives today. Also I believe we will keep growing and maturing as we exercise all the hidden abilities God has equipped us with. And of course there will always be Jesus. We will be with Him all the time and savor His blessed presence in ways we simply cannot imagine. We will do everything in the full glorious light of His favor and blessing.
My wife has said for years that the one thing she wants in heaven is a beautiful voice. I am convinced she will always be easy for me to locate. All I will have to do is listen for the sweetest voice there is.

barb84 I hope you like the color white. The rumor is that it is very fashionable where we are headed! I think I'm going to have a problem with robes. Got some good patterns?
