Hi all,
I couldn't find a thread regarding watching the middle east, so I am starting one regarding someone I have been watching.
In the 21st of June, Mohammed bin Salman was made the crown prince of Saudi Arabia.
Quotes from the following to note:
"Prince Mohammed bin Salman could, potentially, lead Saudi Arabia for decades, heralding a long period of internal stability."
"The rise of Prince Mohammed bin Salman has been meteoric.
When I met him in Jeddah in 2013 he described himself as simply "a lawyer". Today he is a heartbeat away from ruling the most powerful country in the Arab world"

"Mohammed bin Salman, the real meaning of ‘Saudi’s Vision 2030’ and the work towards its realization is understood clearly. It is glaring now that dropping oil as the major source of revenue is not a difficult task. The next three or five years are significant in this aspect, while the fruit it bears starting from now looks promising considering what the continent will become 13 years from today. "

"It might look bad domestically, or to [bin Salman's] allies in Yemen, but is actually good news to spread about him - that he basically he doesn’t want this war but has to [fight it],"

Why am I watching him?
1. He is 32 on August 31st, which is a lot younger than the leaders in that area.
2. He has no problem starting wars and has done so in the past.
3. I can't find any reference to him being married.
4. He has had such a quick, overnight almost rise to power, I wouldn't be surprised that he continues to grow in power in the next while.
Most may not feel him to be an A/C candidate but he will certainly undoubtedly pave the way for future events and that is the main reason why I am watching him.
