Going back to this discussion, I am wondering if there is any possibility that, at least in part, the Revelation 6 Four Riders of the Apocalypse have any relation to the 4 Daniel 7 beasts. I certainly don't know if they do, but let me try to put my speculative thoughts down here.
1. White horse, rider with a bow (whatever that means--does not seem to actually be the weapon, but some sort of fabric)-- goes forth conquering and to conquer.
1. Beast like a lion, with wings like an eagle, that get plucked, and this beast then stands on its feet like a man and a man's heart is given to it.
-Note that while conquering is mentioned, there is nothing overly fierce or terrible about the first of the series in both cases.
2. Red horse, rider with a "great sword", takes peace from the earth, that they might kill one another.
2. Beast like a bear, raised up on one side, 3 ribs in its mouth, and they said thus unto it, "arise, and devour much flesh"
-Note that both these instances are clearly associated with war and great destruction.
3. Black horse, rider with scales, brings famine and economic tyranny.
3. Beast like a leopard, with wings like a fowl, and four heads, so fast it does not even touch the ground, dominion was given unto it.
-Note the dominion-- while not much active fighting is portrayed, I can see that these enemies use finance, economics, and government tyranny to get their job done. The mentioning of commodities being regulated is significant, and the word "dominion" talking about the leopard beast refers to total government control. The mentioning of heavy regulation of oil and wine, to me, suggests that these two commodities can fully control the population.
4. Green horse, rider carries NOTHING. Rider's name is Death, and Hell follows it.
4. behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.
-Note that culminatively, the fourth seems to be the most terrible in both cases. While the bear was destructive, the 4th beast is far more destructive. A very visceral beast. Notice that the first three riders all carry something with them, a tool of their trade, but the 4th rider does not need to.
Perhaps it is significant that God's 4 holy beasts introduce these 4 riders in Revelation 6-- Satan has 4 beasts as well-- 4 evil beasts.
This comparison works well, in my opinion with my theory that the 4 beasts are concurrent upon the earth today, and are 1. England/US/NATO, 2. Russia, 3. China + a forming coalition, and 4. An assembling Moslem confederacy of 10 primary nations, kingdoms, or organizations.
When put all together, I think this also fits the cryptic passage in Hosea 13:
Hos 13:7 Therefore I will be unto them as a lion: as a leopard by the way will I observe them:
Hos 13:8 I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the caul of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them.
Sadly, this passage, I believe, shows how God will continue to try Israel in the days we are in, and the days to come. If my hunches and speculations here are correct, the TWICE mention of the lion in this passage is significant and sad-- because I think the Hosea passage probably shows the realtion of these 4 beasts to modern Israel. If so, the double mention of the Lion seems to indicate first a benevolent lion, but that the lion sadly will turn on Israel and harm them AFTER the big bad bear mauls them badly. The leopard observing by the way is consistent, I think, with China and the "Kings of the East" being only marginally involved with attacking Israel until the very end-- the leopard is firstly a casual but potent observer of the goings-on. The WILD BEAST in Hosea 13:8 again should refer back to Daniel's fierce beast-- evidently, if I guess correctly, the Wild Beast tears Israel only after the bear has rent the caul of their heart, and after the post-rapture lion betrays them. The leopard bides his time, waiting for the right moment to attack-- if my hunch is right, this is why the Kings of the East don't attack Israel until the end of the tribulation, and they join up with the armies of the Wild Beast (Moslem confederacy) to resist Christ and we the saints at Armageddon.
If so, this lends credence to the likelihood of the Gog attack (bear beast) at the beginning of the Trib, with 7 months of HAZMAT cleanup, and 7 years of fuel burning.
It is clear from Isaiah and Zechariah that many Israelis will be killed in the tribulation (or before). Even though many will also make it through to the end. Israel in its entirety will certainly not be completely protected throughout the entire 7 years. Revelation 12 really only says that Israel will be protected for 3.5 years. It is the time of Jacob's Trouble, after all, and thus many of the Israelites will not survive, though clearly many will.
