Scientists warn of mysterious and deadly new epidemic called Disease X that could kill millions around the world.
from article- “Disease X could even be man-made, rather than a fluke of nature. There are growing fears that the use and development of chemical and biological weapons are on the rise. In Syria's bloody civil war chemical bombs have been dropped on civilians on numerous occasions.
And closer to home, the police have confirmed that a nerve agent, probably created in a lab by state-sponsored scientists as a targeted weapon, was used to attack the former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury this week.
Last year North Korea is believed to have used the nerve agent VX to assassinate the half-brother of dictator Kim Jong-Un in an airport in a Malaysian airport.”
also- “Exactly 100 years ago the Spanish Flu outbreak swept around the world, killing about 100 million people around the world, more than the four years of the First World War which had only just finished.”
I cannot fathome how how bad the Great Tribulation will be. Whether you are in a small Bible study group, prayer group, etc. I believe we need to double our efforts and pray for those that will be left behind. Give them the ability to see the truth Lord and act upon it by accepting you as their salvation.
More than 220 cases of a breed of “nightmare bacteria” with new or rare antibiotic-resistant genes, have been found in 27 states, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in a report released Tuesday.
The CDC has warned of the antibiotic-resistant bacteria for years, but these “nightmare bacteria” are “virtually untreatable” and capable of spreading genes that make them “impervious” to most antibiotics, Scientific American reported.
Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.” John 6:29
“The United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) warned that an infestation of desert locusts in Sudan and Eritrea is rapidly spreading along both sides of the Red Sea towards Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
According to an agency press release, heavy rains triggered two generations of breeding since October, leading to a substantial increase in the locust population.”
“Earlier this year, the insects evoked biblical times when they showed up at holy sites in Mecca, covering some areas in darkness and sparking a thunderstorm of hail and fire on social media.
“These locusts are normally present in low numbers in the desert and don’t cause a big problem. But following a large rainfall they can quickly multiply, eventually forming hopper bands or swarms of adults, composed of billions of individual locusts,”
From article - The CDC says the milder strain of influenza that had been nailing people from just after Thanksgiving through early February is now being replaced by a stronger, nastier strain. It’s one that makes people a lot sicker than the previous circulating bug.
The report from the CDC came out within the past few days, but I think those of us who work in emergency rooms, clinics, or offices have noticed something a little unusual over since mid-February. That is, people who were down for the count with fever, chills, coughing… and just a general position of being laid out on the stretcher or exam table when we went into examine them. Sicker than what we were used to.
...The main complications: pneumonia, out-of-control diabetes, uncontrolled asthma, heart attacks, and stroke (from the tremendous strain these diseases put on the body).
Now, things get worse.
This year’s flu season, which we were hoping would be mild and be drawing to a close early is now a shown a new, ugly face. It’s worse, and it’s going to be here for a while. The CDC is estimating we will now be dealing with this one until May. And at highest risk are young kids, even though all age groups are susceptible.

Sectarian fighting has complicated the medical response to the virus from foreign governments and groups like the World Health Organization (WHO) and Doctors Without Borders. Even worse, health workers have been attacked by anti-government rebels, with 85 either killed or wounded since January, an official at the WHO told the Associated Press.
In October, when the number of reported cases hit 300, the Trump administration, citing security concerns, barred U.S. health experts from working or traveling to the Democratic Republic of Congo to assist in the latest outbreak. Doctors Without Borders pulled staff from the affected areas in February after attacks on treatment centers.
Proven components in containing past Ebola outbreaks — tracking and monitoring an infected patient’s contacts — have been difficult to achieve in the densely populated war zone, a fact that has further enhanced the need for a robust supply of the vaccine. So far, of the 5.7 million people who live in North Kivu, 111,000 have received the Ebola vaccine, and 30,000 of that number are health workers. Merck, the American pharmaceutical company that has developed the yet-to-be FDA-approved vaccine, is working to ramp up production. The scale of the need, however, has prompted the WHO to propose a strategy of cutting the dosage to stretch supply. Still, Arthur said, the prospect of mass vaccination for Ebola won’t be quick.
sesquipedalian: There's a difference between a non-Christian company, and a company that is putatively Christian but keeps making compromises. This is not the first compromise they have made.

fitz: I would just say (as a business owner myself), there is no such thing as a "Christian business". A business cannot be a Christian, only a person can be a Christian. The CEO may run his company by a set of "Christian values", but that doesn't restrict him

fitz: In my experience and humble opinion, all my customers money is green. I am in business to make money, grow the business. As a Christian, I want to be Jesus to all of my customers too. I know about this because I had a business where this was daily life.

fitz: It's a tough thing to do. Balancing act, and difficult at a personal level for the Christian making the decisions, without compromising.

sesquipedalian: fitz "A business cannot be Christian, only a person can" is a distinction without a difference. Rephrase that as "there's a difference between a company run by people who don't adhere to Christian values, and a company run by people who supposedly do,

EnochWalked: fitz: Thank you for sharing your experience and perspective. A CEO of a large company typically doesn't own all the shares, and so is entrusted to act as a faithful steward of the company's resources. There are limits to how generous a company can be.
Dec 2, 2019 16:04:58 GMT -6
fitz: Correct EW. No [Christian] CEO of a company of this size calls the shots in isolation and shareholders always demand profits. Nothing wrong with that. It's called "doing business".
Dec 3, 2019 5:30:56 GMT -6
EnochWalked: Of course, there's more to life than business and profits, but yes, I think that serving customers and dealing honestly can be done for Christ even if we don't always highlight that He is our ultimate motivation. (I also remember His words in Luke 14:28).

EnochWalked: sesquip: That's a good point, but I still think that the owner of a privately owned company doesn't necessarily have a moral duty to damage the value of their company by publicly supporting unpopular causes. Brave to do so, but maybe donate anonymously.
