He is risen, indeed!
==================================================================================
Yesterday, at church -- I received many "Happy Easter" -- to which I responded with Happy Resurrection Sunday!
==================================================================================
I get it -- in this secular culture -- where we have a National Holiday -- called Easter --- and many in our culture today celebrate it as moving into Spring Time .....
In fact MANY schools (and Government agencies) -- call it "Spring Break" ... so why make a fuss over the word Easter?
==================================================================================
No, someone is Not going to Hell for calling it Easter rather than Resurrection Sunday....
===================================================================================
But the Spring Festival (celebration) is simply a carry-over from various Pagan Spring Celebrations that the Roman Catholic Church incorporated into their church Calendar. Similar to how "Christmas" is supposedly represents Jesus' Birthday -- when in reality -- it is simply the Mid-winter holiday of the Pagans.
========================================================================================
My view is it is the resurrection that is being celebrated here ... so let us call it that ... instead of going along with the world and celebrating their Spring Festival....

I'm with you (: It's true that the word has bad etymology.
"Resurrection Day" or "First Fruits" would be better.
When I think about how sinful I am and what He did for me, I can't help but marvel. If the grave couldn't hold Him then it won't hold us, either. Maranatha.

IF YOU NEVER HEARD Sandi Patty's SONG -- "They Could Not" -- you are really missing something.....
But could they keep him in the Grave?
They Could Not, They Could Not, Praise God, They Could Not!
Love This Song.................

I'm with you 100% kjs and @gary!! To be Honest I think most Christians just don't even think about it. But really think about it! - isn't it ironic and twisted that the same culture that promotes bunnies and "Easter eggs" and says "Easter" which is directly from Ishtar the pagan fertility goddess, is the same exact culture that stifles and demonizes those who say "Christmas". Hmmm While i get the pagan roots and know Christ wasn't born in December- at least this acknowledges Christ and the world hates that. I don't tell Christians that they shouldn't say Easter, but we are called to be set apart. When we say Happy Resurrection Day, it really highlights what we celebrate and makes people think. As we get closer to Resurrection Day, its a great chance to re-think and really examine the Catholic myths [ that the culture and the Church has embraced] of "Good Friday crucifixion" and "Palm Sunday" myth, and that's a whole other thread. He is Risen indeed!
