For a number of reasons, I still own a “landline” phone.
Landline phones get tons of “robocalls” every year …. Being a work from home person – I daily get five to six calls a day from people trying to get me to buy things, try things, or answer surveys.
I have received eight calls from a particular group claiming to wish me a better credit card interest rate, for the past eight days …..
Turns out their whole goal is to get you say “YES” to any of the number of questions they pepper you with. Such as are you the man of the house, can you hear me, do you want better interest rates, are you an US citizen……..
They actually record your verbal “YES” and then sign you up for various programs, such upgrade your internet service, your TV service, your phone service, your credit card services … and on and on…..
What do they get from this? They get a small commission from the company they set your new service up with…. While you get head-aches getting everything back to normal….
So stop saying “YES” -- either hang up on them or give evasive answers – Like Maybe, uh-hh, ok, sure…..

Thank you for letting us know that, kjs! Those calls are certainly pesky, but I didn't know they were recording "yes" answers like that. Wow!

It is possible for someone to make up a decent phone script? I am not good at sharing the gospel and don't want to forget an important piece of information.
Once I get some practice, I think I could do okay.

Yes, I already do this sometimes--if I have a real person on the line. I have always saved the phone numbers of telemarketers under names like "Do not answer" So that when it flashes up on my cell screen I know I don't need to answer it. I keep thinking one day I will call all those numbers back and give them the Gospel. LOL.
