Maybe I'm just missing something but is this different than the resurrection that will take place at the rapture?
4 Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5 The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.

Long story short (sorry it's late) but the "first resurrection" is in 3 pieces. Jesus and those who rose and were seen in the city, the rapture, two witnesses and Rev 20:5-6. It is a parallel to Firstfruits

There were 3 different harvests the Jews had and God commanded them to celebrate them in His Feasts 1) Barley in the Spring, Feasts of Passover, Unleavened Bread, and First Fruits 2) Wheat in late spring/early summer, Pentecost 3) Grape Harvest in the fall, Tabernacles There may also be 3 stages of each harvest, as according to God's Law, the Jews were supposed to offer their Firstfruits of each harvest to God, then reap the main portion of the field but leave the corners for the poor to glean. Thus: Jesus was the "firstborn from among the dead" and rose from the grave on the day of First Fruits. Like mike said, there were Old Testament saints who rose with Jesus too (account in Matthew). So they were the firstfruits of the Barley harvest. The rapture of the church will be the main portion harvest of Barley. The Tribulation Saints will be the corners. The wheat harvest is the Jews. The firstfruits of the wheat harvest are the 144,000 sealed from among men in Revelation. The main portion is the remnant who turns to Christ during the Tribulation, and the corners will be all those who grow up and love Jesus in the Millenium. The grapes are the wicked. I'm not clear on whether there are three stages with the grapes. In Revelation, Jesus thrusts in His sickle and reaps the grapes. Then He throws them into the Great winepress of the Lord. Throwing the beast and false prophet in the lake of fire might be another stage. Then the great white throne judgment could be the third. |

Thank you for responding and clearing that up! My wife and I were reading last night when we came across that but I wasn't able to give her an answer. This will help me explain it better!

Great verse for showing Christians that we are HERE in the Great Tribulation period of 3.5 years before His Coming and our Rapture to HIM. The Mark of the Beast comes into existence AFTER the AC conquers all world powers, and AFTER he enters the 3rd Temple, and AFTER the abomination of desolation has been stood up and set up in the Holy of Holies.... for its AFTERWARDS that these good citizens cut off our heads if we dont accept the Mark of the Beastly Nation...... for we will not worship the AC image, or Him or receive His Mark.... Excellent excellent posting, very confirming that we go into the Great Tribualtion period and most of us get killed within that timeframe. If we dont gather as instructed by the Lord, we may only last a few months before they hunt us down and chop off our heads.... Thank the Lord To live is Christ To die is gain. If we gather some of us shall make it to the End of the Great Tribulation, and be alive when He comes in the cloud, and THEN and ONLY THEN shall we be raptured, and join those that have gone before us. All those Christians that died for Him or all those Christians that died in the Messiah to come.... GBY excellent verse... |
