(Are you a Rule Follower or Are you a member of the Body of Christ ---- is the full title)
Based upon some of the responses made on the passing of Billy Graham; it has become clear that some people do not have a clue about it means to be saved. According to some people (let’s call them Rule followers) – if every i is not dotted and every t not crossed – in a person’s life suddenly means that individual is not even saved. There are Youtube videos out there taking sound bits of various interviews of Billy Graham and splicing them in such a way to make it appear that Mr. Graham is a Universalist (or all religions/ people will go to heaven). They then further claim Mr. Graham really was not Saved (or lost his salvation) and that he is now in Hell.
This post might be stepping on some toes, and if it does so be it …. But people HAVE to realize that Salvation is NOT about them – But ALL about what Jesus DID for them.
Salvation is the deliverance from the penalty, power, and presence of sin. This work is both immediate, ongoing, and future. These three aspects of salvation are expressed by theologians as justification, sanctification, and glorification. The moment one believes the gospel (1 Corinthians 15.1-4) one is delivered from the penalty of sin. God imputes his own righteousness and judicially declares the believer to be righteous in his sight (Romans 3.26, 28, 30, 4.5, 5.1). The believer is given a new nature which is alive to God. When one believes he is immediately baptized by the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ (cf. 1 Corinthians 12.13) and God gives him the Holy Spirit as a deposit or down payment (ἀρραβών), 2 Corinthians 1.22, 5.5; Ephesians 1.14) for the hopeful expectation of being delivered from the power and presence of sin. The process of being delivered from the power of sin while we live on this earth is known as sanctification. The final stage of salvation is being delivered from the presence of sin and is known as glorification. This occurs when the believer receives a new, resurrection body (1 Corinthians 15.50-56). Salvation is NOT what you Have done.
Salvation is NOT what you Can Do.
Salvation is NOT what you Will Do.
Salvation is ONLY about the DEATH, BURIAL, and RAISED To Life of Jesus Christ and is GRANTED as a FREE GIFT to ALL who Believe in Jesus Christ for being their Savior.
Such a believer is immediately baptized into the Body of Christ and thus becomes a member of that Body.
Once that occurs, it is a “done deal” – you (they) are a member of the BODY of Christ and NOTHING will ever change it.
Does that mean – suddenly the member inside the Body of Christ – will live 100% perfectly from that moment on in their daily life? NO, while this side of heaven we will ALL continue to struggle and discover pockets of SIN in our lives --- where it appears we enjoy wallowing in …. But we are still being sanctified………..
Those who feel that IF they can “SPOT” one or two sins in someone else’s life and thus conclude that individual is not saved….. DOES NOT UNDERSTAND what Salvation is all about………
