In Matthew 17 we read about Christ's Transfiguration - appearing in glory with Moses and Elijah. The text does not specify which mountain Jesus, Peter, James, and John ascended, but the text calls it a "high mountain". The traditional Catholic site is Mt. Tabor, but there seems to be little scholarly support for that mountain - more of a glorified hill. Several scholars believe the mountain Jesus ascended was Mt. Hermon because it was the highest mountain in the region and also happens to be right next to Caesarea Philippi where the text most recently placed Jesus (Matt. 16:13).

The Transfiguration gave a glimpse of the resurrection and glorification of the saints and like 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, even included a cloud.

The exact height of Mt. Hermon? 9,232 Feet.
