Y'all, myself and my wife and kids are pretty miserably sick today. Well, actually, my wife has not succumbed to it yet but probably will. It's a nasty miserable sickness, so please pray for quick recovery.

The worst part of it is the headache. Right where my head attaches to my neck, it hurts badly.

Are you able to eat a little, watchmanjim? Along with my prayers, I'll share with you a recipe that I make every time my husband gets sick. It is a very comforting and nourishing soup that helps him recover. I don't remember where I got the recipe, but it is one of my absolute favorites. Perhaps if your wife is still well, she can prepare some for you. I call it the Ultimate Chicken Soup.
1/2 an onion, chopped 2 T. olive oil 9 c. chicken broth 3 cloves garlic, minced ¼ t. thyme ¼ t. black pepper 1 t. dillweed Parsley flakes to suit 3 baking potatoes, peeled if desired, chopped into bite-size pieces 4 oz. dry basil fettucini noodles 1 chicken breast, chopped 1 c. whipping cream 1 c. frozen peas In soup kettle simmer onions, oil, broth, garlic, thyme, black pepper, dill, parsley, chicken, and potatoes until chicken and potatoes are fully cooked. Stir in noodles. Simmer 7 minutes or until pasta is tender. Stir in cream and peas. Simmer until heated through.

Watchmanjim, praying for you! Feel better soon brother.
whatif, I am sensitive to onions and garlic... do you think that recipe would still be tasty without those two ingredients?

Hi, Gary! While I am partial to the flavor of the onions and garlic myself--in fact rarely a day goes by without me using those vegies in my meals--I'm pretty sure the soup would taste just fine if you leave them out. You could always add something else that you like to the mix--maybe corn or even carrots. Fresh chives are flavorful and don't pack as much of a punch as onions and garlic, so that may be a way to add a little of the onion flavor without the ouch. However, I think part of the healing properties of the recipe involve the onions and garlic. They're really great for defeating bugs. So for anyone who tries the recipe for soothing a sickness, I recommend keeping the onions and garlic in the mix.

Thanks. I'm doing somewhat better. The worst of the head/neck pain is gone, and I've kept some chicken and other food down, including coffee, but I'm still too weak to work and my lower back is messed up. I've been to both my chiropractors today, and they were helfpul. It just really hits the wallet when I can't work. I hope to be up to getting out and working at my sawmill tomorrw, as I am backed up out there too (I have three main jobs). If I can finish up the sawmill job I'm working on, I can get paid for it and get some money in.

So, I've actually been sick for quite a while now, and not just with little things like colds and stomach bugs, which I've had, but also something more. For the last couple months I've been very fatigued and felt dizzy at odd times. This week, it got worse. On wednesday I nearly passed out at work (right after driving to the jobsite in the dump truck). I went to the ER and they couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. Then yesterday I went to the doctor's office and they ran a bunch of tests. Other than high blood pressure, they didn't find anything wrong. Tests came back today--nothing. They're planning to put a 24-hour monitor on me to try to capture an episode for data analysis. Probably next week.
With all the fatigue and so on, I've been missing a lot of work. This in addition to all the other illnesses I've had. Please pray for me and my family, I believe this is in response to spiritual warfare.

I am still having dizzy spells and heart irregularities. I turned in my 48-hour heart monitor today, that they put on my Thursday, to see if they can detect anything. I did not notice any particuar systems while the monitor was on, but almost as soon as it was off-- I was having them again. I almost passed out at work this morning. I only worked 3 hours. PLEASE pray for the Lord to provide for my family as I'm not able to work much, and also some answers about this malady.

I will be praying, watchmanjim! Did the doctors take bloodwork to check for deficiencies in vitamins, etc.? I know that when I had a severe case of anemia in my young years those were some symptoms.
