I am thinking that what is going on right now in Syria is a distraction.
Perhaps to allow mass troop movements by the E38 main players. Get more men, weapons, etc. into Syria while the rest of the world thinks it's all about the Syrian civil war etc.
They agreed to a cease fire today, but how many more troops do those three main players have in Syria now, and will the withdraw them back?
Apparently it has now been discovered that there is a massive oil deposit underneath the Golan Heights ("Hook" anyone?), and now we have all this skirmishing within Syria by the E38 players, while the US is withdrawing.
Side note: I've seen several pastors preaching on how "the united states isn't in the end times prophecy". I'm going to try and put a stop to this nonsense right here, because many pastors just use it to fear monger and scare people into accepting Christ or putting money in the offering tray.
1. The entire western Hemisphere was unknown to Ezekiel. That part of the world had not, to our knowledge, even been discovered yet. How is a man having a vision of 2500 years in the future supposed to label something that has no label? How do we know what portion of the world he was seeing in his vision? I think a lot of people assume that God showed Ezekiel a map like what we see today, where all continents are defined, etc.
2. Just because the USA isn't listed among those who protest the invasion of Israel, doesn't mean the USA is gone. Nor does the lack of the US rushing in to protect Israel mean the US has been destroyed or such. Our current president is pulling our troops out, and yes we have bases in various countries around that region of the world, but the Ezekiel 38 war starts, and ends, in less than a 24hour period. As mighty as our military is, we cannot mobilize a force large enough to stop or defeat an invasion force the size of what is defined in Ezekiel 38. We might be able to fly bombers to the Golan in that window of time, but our President is taking a "hands off" approach to things now. He's threatening to cripple Turkey economically in retaliation for Turkey breaking their agreement, etc. It is not unrealistic to say that our country could be fully capable of defending Israel, yet not be capable of doing anything about it within a 24 hour window. The only weapons we have that are capable of wiping out armies that size in that amount of time are nuclear, and I'm going to guess that it would be in our best interest to at least *ask* Israel about using therm before we turned the Golan Heights to glass. We also know that with their current power/might, that Israel will likely be incapacitated at the time of the attack, so it's hard to say whether or not we would be able to get the go-ahead to use any force at all on Israel's soil in the event something happened.
Regarding the war itself. Most people believe that the E38 players are going to attack Israel from the North "to take spoil". Please note that the scripture using that term has in the frame of a question asked by Sheba & Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish "Are you coming to take a spoil?". It is not a definite description of what the E38 players are doing for sure.
I believe it is very possible that what is going on now will play out as follows:
(again, this is theory, I am not claiming fact)
Theory 1
1. Turkey, Russia, Iran, etc. have been in Syria for a while now, and they still don't really get along
2. Oil, having been discovered in the Golan, is very attractive to them, especially since the Golan Heights are not thought to belong to Israel by these players (they believe it to belong to Syria)
3. An earthquake, or some other disabling event hits Israel, and hits them hard. Making them Vulnerable
4. The E38 players seize this as an opportunity to take back the Golan and make it's oil their own.
5. God says "nope!" and that ends that.
Theory 2
1. Turkey, Russia, Iran etc. have been in Syria for a while now, and they are pretending to not get along.
2. The Kurds, who are a problem for the main players, are used as an excuse to push more troops into the region.
3. Oil, having been found in the Golah Heights, is not only the "hook" God spoke of, but the excuse they will use among themselves to do what they've wanted to do for a long time, and that is to invade and completely overtake Israel.
4. The E38 players move in from the north. The Saudi's and others see this and say "hey, what is your goal here? Are you going to take the Golan back for yourselves?"
5. God says "nope!" and that ends that.
