A historic cathedral in Worcester, Massachusetts is scheduled to be destroyed and replaced with an apartment complex. www.masslive.com/news/worcester/index.ssf/2017/07/developers_of_luxury_worcester.htmlThere were several ironic things in the article, including the fact that the people trying to save the building are projecting the words "SAVE ME" up onto the front of the church. That's sad and ironic on several levels. The phrase "It's not over until it's over." is also used. I find this ironic due to our church age being nearly over. I feel that just as these people are losing the struggle to keep this building as a historic artifact, even so we the church body are losing the struggle to keep our relevance in this wicked world today. The irony--they probably won't need those apartment buildings.

That's not good. Perhaps it represents the Church screaming to God, 'Save Us!' Perhaps the building will be miraculously kept safe,

What a beautiful church! I didn't notice in the article that it mentioned how old the church is. What is it's history? That is incredibly sad to see it being set for destruction. I hope that Beloved is right and that it will be kept safe.

I don't really know anything more without digging into some research, but based on the info that is given, I'm guessing this is a Catholic cathedral and probably at least 100 years old if not more. I grew up in New England and Catholicism is or was prevalent there. I just wish that there was a vibrant Gospel-preaching church body that could buy and move into that beautiful building.

Yes indeed! It's a shame to see it destroyed!

Here's a little information I discovered about the church. Interesting that it is located at 5 Salem Square... Especially since we are noting Salem during the eclipse and as the word for "peace" as well as the source of the name Jerusalem...

Hmm, more ties to the French! 1929 is the build date, a little later than I thought. Romanesque Revival is the style--I wonder if that means anything. . . .
