John 13 14 So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you must also wash one another’s feet. 15 I’ve set an example for you, so that you may do as I have done to you. 16 Truly, I tell all of you[f] emphatically, a servant isn’t greater than his master, and a messenger isn’t greater than the one who sent him. 17 If you understand these things, how blessed you are if you put them into practice!
I know there are still some church denominations that still practice “washing feet” ceremonies; yet I have never done. When you follow the rest of the text, it seems to imply the message is more to keep people from boasting (or arrogant) – then an actual command to do. If that is an correct interpretation; what other ways can we “wash feet” symbolically?

I think of serving others as washing feet. Seeing a person's need and filling it. Sacrificing our wants for another's. We are attending a fairly small church, and the pastor stresses getting to know the other people that attend. If you are getting to know them, then you will know how to serve them because you will see their needs.

Just give of yourself to others. Give them the things God has given you. Help them with their every need.
